Marshalling Instructions

🙌 Thanks for Volunteering!

First off – a massive thanks for stepping up to help out with our racing. Without volunteers like you, we simply couldn’t run safe, fun events. Whether you’re a seasoned marshal or new to the hi-vis game, we’re stoked to have you involved.

If you’ve landed on this page and you’re keen to help at one or more of the upcoming races, just fill in the form below and I’ll be in touch to confirm details.

Below, you’ll find a full rundown of marshal instructions for each of the three key corners, plus a short video (around 4–5 minutes) for each. Please watch the video that matches your assigned corner before race day.

Here is the Place we meet for the Briefing at 9.05 am

Corner 1 – Start/Finish Corner

📍 Main Role:

  • STOP cyclists only who are turning left at this corner.
  • WATCH traffic from Lincoln – that’s the risk zone.

📋 What You Need To Know:

  • Riders will come past multiple times:
  • 4 grades = 3 laps
  • No Drop = 2 laps
  • Development = 1 lap

  • After the final rider passes, move 50–100m past the finish line to the coned-off area.
  • Your job then is to stop oncoming cars approaching the sprint finish.
  • Be proactive – better to stop cars early than react late.

Corner 2 – Carrs & Days Road (Left Turn for Riders)

📍 Main Role:

  • STOP the Cyclists – not cars.
  • DO NOT show the stop sign to motor vehicles – you're not authorised traffic control.

📋 Marshal Tips:

  • Stay well off the road when not stopping riders.
  • Be conservative – don’t try to time it.
  • Cyclists have been briefed to look and give way – you’re there to help them corner safely at speed.
  •

🌀 Riders will loop past again (3 laps for some grades), so stay alert.

Corner 3 – Andrews & English Rd (Right Turn onto Gravel Rd)

📍 Main Role:

  • Most cars here turn left in front of you – no action needed.
  • BUT – if they’re not indicating left, STOP the Cyclists.

📋 Marshal Tips:

  • Feel free to step out with the stop sign when needed – safely!
  • Stand beside the road unless action is needed.
  • It’s quiet here, but don’t let your guard down.

🟢 General Notes for All Corners

🔸 High-vis gear is mandatory – stay visible at all times.

🔸 Use your
coreflute STOP sign only to stop cyclists (unless instructed otherwise).

🔸
DO NOT stop or wave down cars – you’re there to help the riders, not direct traffic.

🔸 If a car looks like a risk, let the cyclist know early.

🔸
Watch the bib colours – different grades have different coloured dots on their backs to help you track laps.

🔸 If you’re unsure whether the final riders have passed, or if you have
any issue at all, text or call Alex on 027 277 6659.

🔸 Once you’ve had the OK and all riders are done –
you’re free to finish up.
