Race report for Round 5.
What a ripper of a day out for Round 5 of Winter Worlds – the Sprout Growth Grind, proudly brought to you by Gillian at Sprout Accountants.
Gillian’s one of those rare legends who doesn’t just sponsor cycling — she shows up, volunteers, and supports riders at every level. That’s the kind of backing we love.
We had a solid field turn out, especially considering 25 of our regular juniors were away repping at South Islands (unlucky team… you missed double points!).
But it didn’t stop the rest from going full gas into a strong Nor’wester that turned things brutal on the way back in. Real racing, real grit, real sunshine — 14° and dry with barely a cloud in the sky.
Oh, and racing at 2pm? Huge win. No one’s missing those frosty morning starts.
